Atzin is a non-profit humanitarian organization registered in Mexico, with a sister association in Canada. Atzin assists rural people, particularly indigenous women, to attain better life opportunities, stronger cultural wellbeing, and greater self-sufficiency with more peaceful governance. Starting in 1997 and emerging gradually in response to community needs, Atzin programs cut across four integrated sectors: Health and Healing; Income Generation for Women; Community Education and Literacy; and Environment, Water and Sanitation. The programs are based on principles of social participation, investigation with action, and environmental and economic sustainability.
